BIOGRAPHY

Anita Thompson was born and raised in Houston, TX.  She grew up in the Kashmere Gardens area where she lived with her parents, brother, sister and grandfather.  She led a quiet, happy and mostly peaceful life.  Anita was educated in the Houston Independent School District attending Kashmere Gardens Elementary, E.O. Smith Junior High and Forest Brook High School.  She stayed active in activities including Book Clubs and the National Honor Society.

At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized.  She joined the fellowship at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church where she served in a variety of ministries.  She became a Sunday School teacher at 16 and committed herself to the Music, Women’s Mission and Prayer Ministry. She also served as the official Announcing Clerk for many years.

During Anita’s teenage years, she met the love of her life Russell Thompson, Jr.  Russell and Anita were married July 14, 1979.  From this union, they were blessed with three wonderful children; Renita Thompson Steward, Russell Thompson III and Adrianne Thompson Addison all who are happily married.  She has seven grand-children with one on the way.

Anita attended Houston Baptist University and built her career in the Insurance and Accounting field.  She is passionate about prayer, studying the word of God and teaching.  Her hobbies include reading, running and walking.  She enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren and the entire family. 

Anita was ordained and licensed as a minister of the gospel on November 3, 2019.   She enjoys being one of the teaching ministers at Cullen Baptist Church in Houston, TX, Pastor-Andre J. Jones where she and her husband are both members.

Anita hopes to encourage the hearts of every individual who reads For Better or For Worse.  Her message to all readers is “Love is not always about feelings, but commitment.”
